Snowglobes, raves, and tri training!

Well, happy new year and happy MLK day everyone! Sorry for the delay in blog updates, I know you all have been anxiously awaiting my next post haha. So here it goes, the latest in the life of Kristina Marie Kegerreis...

Topic of interest number one: G-Baby's birthday celebration--
Two Friday's ago we celebrated the birth of our very own Katie "G-Baby" Gessner. This was a night full of drinking games, cranberry vodka, too much wine, hot pink tights, and of course its very own cake fight.

I decided not to partake in this fight of cake, as you can see it got a little messy and I'm not quite sure exactly how much of the cake was eaten. After the food fight we all proceeded to "The Edge", the little bar that's right off campus and in walking distance to where we all live. We always end up here on the most sloppy of nights. This bar also likes to play Thriller, at the end of every night. Every time this happens I make it a habit to clear an area of the dance floor and bust some moves. So of course on this night I broke out my thriller moves. I'm going to need to break this habit soon because as some of you saw at Emma's wedding, my dance skills have become a little rusty.

Topic of interest number 2: My New Year's Resolution--
As many of you know my new year's resolution for 2011 was to enter a triathlon. I have a very basic biking, running, and swimming background, so I thought it might be a nice goal to set for myself. I felt like I needed a bigger reason to workout this spring, other than just trying to stay healthy. So, two weekends ago I started my training. It all began with one small purchase...
My new goggles! Last week, I put these babies and my one piece to good use for my first week of tri training! Week one of training went alright, I was finally able to run outside on Saturday morning. After a 20 minute run however, I was sucking some serious wind. I guess I have a lot of progress to make still... Oh, and Friday night I registered for the actual triathlon. May 22nd, in Richmond, Virginia. Registration is complete, the card has been charged, and I have about 18 weeks to train. Wish me luck!

Topic of interest number 3: Richmond Trip
This past weekend Kristin, Katie, and their friend Nate and I met up in Richmond, VA for an all-inclusive stay at the PD resort. Included in the stay was good friends, good times, and a couch to sleep on. (As a side note, the following were not included in this stay: food, alcohol, and hookers.) I've dubbed these guys "The CNU Crew" because that's where they all went to school, I'm so lucky they've been willing to adopt me and make me an "honorary member." Saturday during the day we all decided to go to the driving range. Having been a junior golf 3-hole champion, I thought I would be crushing the balls over 200 yards.

Unfortunately, I think I lost all the golf skills I acquired as a child and Kristin and I decided to take pictures instead. On the other hand, I did accomplish the feat of making contact with the ball, yet still manage for it to land right back on the tee.

Later that night we hit up down town Richmond. We got dressed up for the night life. My outfit of choice somehow managed to have the same pattern as Peter's couch in the living room, as you will see in the following pictures. This was a little embarrassing...
As we were piling into my car to drive downtown for the night, we had to move a bunch of crap from my back seat into the trunk. Kristin was nice enough to pick up the snow globe that one of my friends brought back from the niagra falls for me. Tragedy struck when she ended up dropping it in the parking lot before it made it to my trunk. RIP snow globe from Canada! In addition to the broken snow globe, I brought along some glow sticks as party favors for the night. We decided to wear them to the bar, thinking it might be helpful for us to find each other in case we lost one another. I'm sure all the people at the bar were super jealous of our glowing jewelry, especially as we all put our hands together and shouted the captain planet theme song.

We ended the night at this bar called Lucky Buddha. I could have sworn I was at a rave as the bar was swarming with people who didn't speak English, techno was blasting, and smoke machines were blowing fog everywhere. When our song "We Don't Speak No Americano" came on, we all went crazy. (Youtube it if you don't know it... it's pretty annoying, but so catchy!)
Sunday morning a few of us woke up with a little bit of a headache. I attempted to overcome the hangover and FINALLY got to see Janet on Sunday afternoon. We went to the cute little spot in downtown Richmond a few blocks from her house to eat lunch. I got a yummy eggs benedict and in case we hadn't drank enough the night before, we decided to share a pitcher of mimosa's. It was $11 pitchers... I mean how could you pass that up?!
Needless to say, it was quite an eventful little weekend. We had today off from school and it was a much needed day to relax, detox, workout and get some school work done as well! Hope y'all had a great weekend also, can't wait for everyone else's blog updates too!

Love,
Kristi
