My Top 10

I've taken a long hiatus from the blogging world and I've had many people ask me when I was going to start posting again. Too much has happened since my last post so I couldn't just pick up from there. Then I had an idea. I would restart my blogging habit with a fun new post--- a post of my Top Ten Most Embarrassing Moments Ever. Those of you who know me well could tell you that I often find myself in unlucky or unfortunate situations. So, I decided to make a list of my 10 most memorable. My friend Kristin says it best "God has these things happen to you because other people can't handle it." Hope ya'll enjoy it! Love, KK

10. We’re going to start off my list with a mildly entertaining story from my senior year of high school. I was a cool older sister because I could drive my brother and his neighbor to class every day. One such school morning I was running a little late; my brother and his friend were already in the car so I was running down the hill of our front yard to get to my car. Unfortunately the grass was a little slick because it has rained the night before; my feet came out from under me and I slid on my butt the entire way down the hill. I was running late as it is, so I just picked up all my stuff and threw it into the car. I didn’t realize until I actually got to school that the entire back of my jeans was covered in mud. Like the quick thinker I am, I went and dropped my stuff off at my first class and then snuck back out with the teacher noticing. I went to visit my sub school secretary who wrote me a pass to go home and change. When I came back with clean clothes every single person, including the teacher, commented on my new outfit. I guess I actually didn’t “sneak out” of the class like I thought.

9. Lovely number nine of this list happened quite a few years ago during my elementary school years. I was on a travel soccer team called the Hurricanes. George Mason University used to like to invite the local travel teams out to their games to be their “ball girls.” We got wear our uniforms, hang out with the team, and chase down balls when they were kicked out of bounds. At one of these games, I was sprinting to run down a ball that went out of bounds and ran straight into a wooden hurdle. The hurdle went straight into my stomach, knocked me to the ground and the wind right out of me. The game had to be stopped momentarily so that the athletic trainer could come make sure the clumsy ball girl was okay. The stands all clapped and cheered when they helped me to my feet.

8. As many of you know, I ride my bike to class every day as my method of transportation. Last year I used to live in an area called Larchmont, it’s ride next to campus so it’s an easy ride to class. To get from the Health Sciences building to my house you had to cut thru the center of campus. One day I was on my way back from class cutting thru campus when out of nowhere comes a skateboarder going around the curve. I thought he was going to get out of my way but instead came right at me. I had no choice but to bail of my bike directly into a pile of dirt. This collision occurred at lunch time when everyone is busy changing classes. Everyone stared but absolutely no one helped me up. And to top it all off the skateboarder says to me afterwards, “Dude! Are you okay? Why didn’t you move, didn’t you see me coming?”

After my triathlon this May... I used the same bike that also collided with the skateboarder!

7. Lucky number 7 on my list happened not too long ago. On this night we all went out to this Mexican bar for Karaoke. After a few too many tequila shots, margaritas, corona’s, etc. not only did I sing N’Sync karaoke, but I also managed to make out with our Teaching Assistant who was at the bar. It wouldn’t have been so bad if it didn’t happen in front of EVERY SINGLE ONE of my classmates and if he didn’t happen to be bald or newly divorced. Super nice guy, don’t get me wrong, but I’m never gonna live this one down… hope he gives me some good grades this semester though!

6. Taking a walk of shame the morning after a rough night is bad enough as it is, however, if you’re sneaky you won’t get caught. Let’s just say I’m not so sneaky. One time in my college career, I spent the night down the street at a friend’s house. I really didn’t want anyone to know that I had stayed the night there so I was hoping to get out of there early in the morning. By 8am I heard every single one of this guys roommates upstairs, I mean what college guy is up at 8am on a weekend?! Since I didn’t want to get caught I thought it would be a brilliant idea to just sneak out of the downstairs window. I gracefully made it out of the downstairs window, but unfortunately every one of those guys conveniently made it outside to the back porch and witnessed the entire thing. Talk about a walk of shame.

5. This embarrassing story also occurred in the good old college town of Statesboro, GA. One of our favorite bars to go to while I went to school at GSU was a place called Rude Rudy’s. We were frequent customers at this bar and often knew some of the bouncers or bartenders. One night I arrived at Rudy’s later than everyone else. Everyone had gone to the bar a little bit earlier and had already gotten in. There was a HUGE line out the door to get in and obviously I thought I was too good to wait in the line. I could see my friends sitting outside on the deck so I decided I was going to avoid the line and just hope the fence onto the deck. This worked out fine for awhile until one of the bouncers noticed I never got an over 21 wrist band. The bouncer came up to me and told me that I needed to leave. I guess I didn’t listen well enough because he grabbed the 2nd bouncer and they grabbed me underneath my armpits and literally carried me out the door. My friends watched and laughed as they kicked me out the door. As the bouncers were about to drop me out the door I said to them “I was only stopping by anyway, I really just wanted to go to the Nikel.” They responded by dropping me and telling me to get on my way.

4. Number 4 on this list occurred as a result of a drunken decision making. I believe it was my junior year of college and Kala and I decided it went be a really good idea to go boogie boarding down the stairs of our townhouse. We had so much fun that we took the boogie board down the street to our friends house so we could all take turns riding down the steps! Kala suffered a sprained ankle, our friend Justin claimed to have “crushed his balls”, and I had my own unique injury. The morning after the boogie board adventure I woke up with an extremely painful butt bone—I mean it was so bad I could hardly walk and could hardly sit down without screaming. So, I decided to go to the training room to have it looked at. The trainer looked at me, asked me how I did it and I had to lie to him and tell him I fell on the tennis courts so that he would treat me. He ended up sending me to the health center where they took X-rays of my butt from various angles. Turns out it was just a bad bone bruise, but I had to sit in an inner tube for nearly a week because it was so painful to sit on. I don’t know which part of this story was more embarrassing: having our male trainer examine my ass, having my ass X-rayed, or sitting in public in my inner tube. Either way , this story definitely makes the list.
Kala and I on the boogie board

3.  The third most embarrassing moment brings us back to our high school years. Your high school years are just plain awkward—you got boys, acne, new boobs, heart break, these years are just rough. Now boys be cautious, I am about to enter some territory you may not want to hear about. Consider this your warning. This embarrassing moment occurred after I got a super tampon stuck up inside of me. I mean I was 16yrs old, had used a tampon before, but for some reason when I went to pull this one out… all that came out was the string. This was a little awkward and I just could not get the darn thing out, it was freaking stuck! I told my mom and she called the doctor, and the doctor said to wait the weekend and see if it starts falling, if not I had to come in Monday morning to have it removed. Knowing my luck, the thing did not budge and I had to go see the gyno. Keep in mind I had never been to the lady doctor before, I was only 16. So the nurse leads me back to the exam room and tells me to remove my close and yada yada. I was really confused on what to do so I ended up just keeping my shirt on and sitting on the exam table with no pants. The doctor finally came in and was a little surprised to see my pantsless with no covering over top of me. She kindly gave me the nice paper sheet to put over my pelvis. Next, she cranked me open, removed that sucker that was stuck up inside of me, and then I waddled out of the doctor’s office. Not only was I mortified to have had to go thru this traumatic experience as a 16yr old, but I had to go straight from the ob gyn to my high school weight training class where I was the only girl.

2. My second most embarrassing moment most of you already know about so I feel like I do not need to describe it in great detail. Last September we had our prestigious White Coat Ceremony. At this ceremony, all of the first year PT students receive their white lab coats to sort of symbolize us all entering the profession. It’s a really nice event, everyone gets dressed up, all of the faculty attend and everyone families come into town. When it’s time for you to get coat, one of our faculty members calls your name and you and your “big buddy” (who is usually a 2nd year), walk up on to center stage. Whenever my big buddy and I walked up on to stage we had a minor mishap. Whenever my big buddy put on my white coat, it got stuck somehow underneath my dress. So, as I was pulling the coat up over my shoulders, my dress was coming with it. Yes, it’s  true—I ended up flashing my entire class, faculty, and associated family members. And lucky me, it was all captured on film!
 Caught after the flashing incident!

1.   1. And finally my absolute worst, most mortifying story of my life… For my 23rdth of July this year. Here’s a how our convo went on this day: birthday this year I got a smart phone. Now these things are really smart—too freaking smart if you ask me. The smart phone I have does this cool thing that links all your facebook friends to the contacts in your phone. It links facebook pictures to your contacts, phone numbers, etc. I thought this was really cool until it back fired on me. Anyways, so on my new smart phone I would randomly text one of my best friends Thomas funny stories or random things that happened to me. For example after one night this summer I woke up and sent him a message that said “oops, made out with my bald TA last night at the bar. Hope I get all A’s next semester.” Or another morning, “woke up in my bed naked, alone, and with half a quesadilla next to me. What did I do last night?” And one time I even texted him something like “Glory hallelujah! I got my period.” (I really, really hope my mother never reads this blog!) Thomas has been one of my best friends for years so we pretty much tell each other everything. Sometimes he never responded to my messages and I was a little upset that he didn’t enjoy my funny messages. I finally found out why he wasn’t responding when he called me on the 4
Thomas: “Hey! Happy 4th of July, how are you?”
Me: Thomassss! So good to hear from you, I miss  you!
Thomas: Yeah…  So I have something really awkward and kind of uncomfortable to tell you about.
Me: Oh okay, what’s wrong?
Thomas: Well you know how yesterday you text me your new address?
Me: Yeah.
Thomas: Well you actually didn’t text me, it was my dad.
Me: Weird! How did that happen?
Thomas: Well actually, I think my dad has been getting a lot of text messages from you. He told me he’d been getting some weird messages from an unknown number and then today he got that text with your new address.
Me: Oh shit.
Thomas: Yeah, so actually all those times you’ve thought you were texting me… I think it was going to my dad.
Me: You have got to be kidding me…
Thomas: (Laughing hysterically) Anyways, my dad asked me to call you and tell you what was going on and to please stop texting him. He’s feeling a little uncomfortable.

Moral of the story: Smart phones are too freaking smart. Thomas and his dad have the same name and since I was friends with both of them on facebook my smart phone linked their numbers together. Please NEVER EVER make the same mistake I did or else you will forever be a walking embarrassment.
My friend Thomas and I back when we were kids.

P.S. Since this encounter, I had to spend a weekend at Thomas’ family’s house. I spent the whole weekend blushing and biting my tongue because I knew his dad would never look at me the same way.

3 months too long

Hi friends,

I sincerely apologize for my lack of blog updates this spring. However, it looks like my other friends who got into the blog trend have been slacking as well (coughkala&emmacough!).

So, I know it's been awhile since I've updated you on the latest and greatest in my exciting young, single life so I'll do my best to give you the most information in the shortest amount of words possible. For those of you who don't know, I decided to give up meat for lent this year. So today is the one month mark for me! It's officially been one month since I've given up meat and I haven't cheated once! That's right I haven't even had one chicken nugget or even bought a cheesy gordita crunch in our drunken late night trips to taco bell. I like to call myself a modified vegetarian because I'm still eating eggs and fish. This new vegetarian diet has opened my eyes to many new food choices: tomatoes, cucumbers, salmon, and my favorite so far... sushi! I never thought I'd be one to enjoy raw fish, but I love it now. I also love the broccoli roll from Katana, on 21st street... it's a must have. Easter and my birthday are coming up at the end of the month so we'll see, if I continue this modified vegetarianism once lent is over.

This year was a very exciting spring break for me as I never had a "true" spring break in undergrad because we always had tennis matches. So this year for spring break I ended up driving all over the east coast. I traveled down to Statesboro, GA to see my teammates and Emma & Bryan. Then made my way to Atlanta for Kala's awesome bridal shower! It was so good to be reunited with everyone (and eat lots of cupcakes.) Now it's just over a month until Kala's wedding... I can't believe it. My best friends need to quit getting married, or pretty soon I won't have any single friends left! Who will dance on the bar with me once everyone gets married?
After the weekend in Atlanta, I made my way to Hilton Head, SC to meet up with some of my PT classmates who were there for the week. It was pretty sunny the whole week, but not warm enough to really go to the beach. Luckily, we had a hot tub at our house.... that & large amounts of alcohol was enough to entertain us for the week. We also had a freezing cold pool in the backyard as well. I ended losing a game of beer pong had to complete what we called a "double shot." This consisted of me taking a shot, jumping in the freezing pool, getting back out of the pool  and taking another shot, and then jumping back in the pool one last time. I would not recommend "the double shot" to anyone after going through that experience. Another exciting adventure we went on that week was drunk bowling. This adventure happened soon after I completed the double shot. And believe me, I know drunk bowling was an adventure... but I don't remember many details. The clearest memory I have from this night was getting yelled at by an employee for walking outside with my bowling shoes on. He did not realize how important it was that I saved a few dollars by chugging a beer that I snuck in my purse out in the parking lot. All I remember him saying was "Hey, don't wear those things outside! You're gonna fall flat on your face!" It was good advice knowing my history, but I didn't fall. Well, as far as I can remember.

Also while we were at Hilton Head, I adopted some new pets! I am now a proud mother of two adorable red-eared sliders. I named my baby turtles Timon and Pumba. We proceeded to race my new pets one night at the house. Timon always won.
In other news, my first triathlon is only about a month away now! I will be swimming a 300 hundred, biking 10 miles, and then running 3.2 miles. I've been keeping up with biking and running, but I haven't been to the pool in awhile. Hopefully, I'll be ready to go by May 23rd!

That's all I got for now. I'm heading to Raleigh, NC this weekend to visit my friend Steven and also attend the World Beer Festival on Saturday. It should be a good time. I only have 3.5 weeks left of the semester; I can't believe how quickly this first year has flown by. I start my first 8 week full time clinical rotation May 16th!

Hope everyone is doing well! Come visit me soon!
Oh & Happy Peace Week!
Love,
Kristi

P.S. I just finished the book "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. It was a really good read if anyone is interested :)

Snowglobes, raves, and tri training!

Well, happy new year and happy MLK day everyone! Sorry for the delay in blog updates, I know you all have been anxiously awaiting my next post haha. So here it goes, the latest in the life of Kristina Marie Kegerreis...

Topic of interest number one: G-Baby's birthday celebration--
Two Friday's ago we celebrated the birth of our very own Katie "G-Baby" Gessner. This was a night full of drinking games, cranberry vodka, too much wine, hot pink tights, and of course its very own cake fight.

I decided not to partake in this fight of cake, as you can see it got a little messy and I'm not quite sure exactly how much of the cake was eaten. After the food fight we all proceeded to "The Edge", the little bar that's right off campus and in walking distance to where we all live. We always end up here on the most sloppy of nights. This bar also likes to play Thriller, at the end of every night. Every time this happens I make it a habit to clear an area of the dance floor and bust some moves. So of course on this night I broke out my thriller moves. I'm going to need to break this habit soon because as some of you saw at Emma's wedding, my dance skills have become a little rusty.

Topic of interest number 2: My New Year's Resolution--
As many of you know my new year's resolution for 2011 was to enter a triathlon. I have a very basic biking, running, and swimming background, so I thought it might be a nice goal to set for myself. I felt like I needed a bigger reason to workout this spring, other than just trying to stay healthy. So, two weekends ago I started my training. It all began with one small purchase...
My new goggles! Last week, I put these babies and my one piece to good use for my first week of tri training! Week one of training went alright, I was finally able to run outside on Saturday morning. After a 20 minute run however, I was sucking some serious wind. I guess I have a lot of progress to make still... Oh, and Friday night I registered for the actual triathlon. May 22nd, in Richmond, Virginia. Registration is complete, the card has been charged, and I have about 18 weeks to train. Wish me luck!

Topic of interest number 3: Richmond Trip
This past weekend Kristin, Katie, and their friend Nate and I met up in Richmond, VA for an all-inclusive stay at the PD resort. Included in the stay was good friends, good times, and a couch to sleep on. (As a side note, the following were not included in this stay: food, alcohol, and hookers.) I've dubbed these guys "The CNU Crew" because that's where they all went to school, I'm so lucky they've been willing to adopt me and make me an "honorary member." Saturday during the day we all decided to go to the driving range. Having been a junior golf 3-hole champion, I thought I would be crushing the balls over 200 yards.

Unfortunately, I think I lost all the golf skills I acquired as a child and Kristin and I decided to take pictures instead. On the other hand, I did accomplish the feat of making contact with the ball, yet still manage for it to land right back on the tee.

Later that night we hit up down town Richmond. We got dressed up for the night life. My outfit of choice somehow managed to have the same pattern as Peter's couch in the living room, as you will see in the following pictures. This was a little embarrassing...
As we were piling into my car to drive downtown for the night, we had to move a bunch of crap from my back seat into the trunk. Kristin was nice enough to pick up the snow globe that one of my friends brought back from the niagra falls for me. Tragedy struck when she ended up dropping it in the parking lot before it made it to my trunk. RIP snow globe from Canada! In addition to the broken snow globe, I brought along some glow sticks as party favors for the night. We decided to wear them to the bar, thinking it might be helpful for us to find each other in case we lost one another. I'm sure all the people at the bar were super jealous of our glowing jewelry, especially as we all put our hands together and shouted the captain planet theme song.

We ended the night at this bar called Lucky Buddha. I could have sworn I was at a rave as the bar was swarming with people who didn't speak English, techno was blasting, and smoke machines were blowing fog everywhere. When our song "We Don't Speak No Americano" came on, we all went crazy. (Youtube it if you don't know it... it's pretty annoying, but so catchy!)
Sunday morning a few of us woke up with a little bit of a headache. I attempted to overcome the hangover and FINALLY got to see Janet on Sunday afternoon. We went to the cute little spot in downtown Richmond a few blocks from her house to eat lunch. I got a yummy eggs benedict and in case we hadn't drank enough the night before, we decided to share a pitcher of mimosa's. It was $11 pitchers... I mean how could you pass that up?!
Needless to say, it was quite an eventful little weekend. We had today off from school and it was a much needed day to relax, detox, workout and get some school work done as well! Hope y'all had a great weekend also, can't wait for everyone else's blog updates too!

Love,
Kristi

There's no place like home for the holidays

I'm finally home for the holidays and it seemed like an excellent time to update my blog! (Kala and Emma have been pestering me anyways!) Christmas time is my favorite time of the year and this is a very special christmas for many reasons:

1) For the first time ever my family put up an artificial christmas tree instead of cutting down a real one
2) This is our baby Bentley's first christmas and she has her very own stocking hanging by the fireplace (speaking of Bentley she took over the ENTIRE bed last night)
3) We've had snow fall 3 times so far this winter and it isn't even christmas yet!
4) Finals are over and with 5 A's and 2 B's that puts me on the Dean's List for the first time in PT school.

I wish I had some exciting stories for you to include in here but truth be told, I've been incredibly lame the past few weeks. The last 2 weeks of school were nuts and I spent every spare moment I had cramming for finals!  The week before finals I had to do a presentation on Shingles. We did a special segment on the tennis player James Blake because he had a shingles outbreak in 2004 while he was playing. We put up a slide with his picture on it titled "Tennis Player by Day, Hottie by Night." We knew that we got a 100 on that presentation when my teacher commented after the presentation saying "I think he's a hottie by DAY AND NIGHT!"

Tuesday during finals week I had some of my classmates over for a little holiday gathering. I made mulled wine and cookies and we just sat around, watched a movie, and tried to catch our breath from all the studying we'd been doing!

I made everyone ornaments and some reindeer candy canes as well!

7 finals later on  Friday morning, let's just say we were all ready to celebrate. About half of our class was at the Mexican Restaurant by 11 am! And by 12PM we were 2 margarita's deep. I was supposed to be at work at 1PM which would have been an interesting work day had my boss not called me and told me I didn't need to come in because there was snow on the courts, phewww! After Mexican, I went home to take a nap and then go to the liquor store to prepare for the night to come haha. I started the night off at SOBO, a pizza restaurant nearby with 4 of my friends. Just as fate might have it, their special for the night was 2 dollar vodka's. So after a few slices of pizza, a few drinks, and a round of shots courtesy of our hot waiter, it was 8:30 PM and it was time for a christmas power hour at the PT pimp pad. I would describe to your more of the night that followed after but I don't really remember. I know that it included red and green jello shots, a few beers, peppermint patty shots, and a few rounds of slap the bag... I was in bed by midnight and woke up on Saturday with the worst hang over I've had since New Years!

The rest of the weekend was spent cleaning, packing, and babysitting for 3 adorable little girls. I'm so happy to be home for the holidays and enjoy this much needed 3 week break! However, it's kind of hard getting used to waking up with no tests to prepare for; I don't really know what do with all this time I have.

They're calling for snow here on Friday so cross your fingers for a white Christmas. I hope that you all have a fabulous holiday and enjoy your time together with friends and family! I'll see most of you in the New Year and I can't wait!

Peace, love, & candy canes,
- Kristi

P.S. Here's my mulled wine recipe in case anyone wants to try it:

  • 2 bottles dry red wine

  • 4 ounces brand

  • 12 whole cloves

  • 4 cinammon sticks

  • 1 large orange, zested

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • Combine ingredients in a large pot and bring to a simmer. Do not allow mixture to boil. Heat for 20 minutes and serve in a large, heat resistant punch bowl.

It turned out pretty good and was a nice warm treat for the holidays. Enjoy :)

    The Secret to Happiness

So a lot has happened since my last blog! So much that I just don't know where to start so I'll just do my best to rewind to a few weeks ago and proceed chronologically!

Let's start with Thanksgiving Eve, one of us 20something's favorite holidays! There was much lead up to this night as we had started planning it weeks ago. Three of my best friends had committed to the outting and had been getting hyped so I knew with all of us together this night could be nothing other than epic. Karen, the best mom in the entire world, was nice enough to play DD for us and dropped Janet, Kristin, Natalie, and I off at my friend Yianni's house to start off the night. Yianni lives in Pentagon city which is about a 15 minute drive from DC. At Yianni's we played a drinking game to Beauty & the Beast (I still know all the words to the song "Be Our Guest"), played some beer pong, took a few shots, and attempted to play pool. Sometime between 10 and 11, Yianni's roommate Dan called the towncar to pick us up. We all piled into the towncar. Natalie had a little mishap when she got her heel caught in the AC vent of the car, but Kristin came to the rescue and pulled her foot outta there. We made it to the first bar which was having 3 dollar vodka's all night... score! We may have had a few too many of those.
This was all of us right before we left the first bar. Great photo for our family christmas card haha. Anyways, right after we took this picture something dropped from Natalie's shoe. She picked up this black piece of plastic and goes "Kristi! What is this??" I took one look at it and said "OMG Nat! That's the AC vent from the towncar!" Kristin's muscles were so strong that when she yanked Natty's foot out of the AC vent she took the vent out with it. The funniest part about this is we had been at the first bar for about 2 hours and dancing up a storm, and none of us noticed the vent up Nat's heel. Here is a picture for your entertainment (sorry Nat, love ya!)
We then proceeded to the next bar, lost Yianni, drank too many cranberry vodkas, got random shots from some old creepers, found Yianni, and then hopped back into the same towncar that dropped us off, only this time the towncar was missing an AC vent. Karen was a trooper and came to pick us up from Yianni's at about 2:30am. We were all pretty exhausted, but managed to eat two big bowls of spinach and artichoke dip before we went to bed. This was definitely a Thanksgiving Eve I will always remember.

Needless to say on actual Thanksgiving Day I was pretty exhausted, but I had a lot to be thankful for. As I reflected on the events of last year's Thanksgiving, I realized a lot had changed. I realized that a year ago, I had spent Thanksgiving either crying or moping around the house refusing to go anywhere. It had been a year since last Thanksgiving my cousin asked me "If I still had the same boyfriend I'd been with for awhile." Last year I told her no I wasn't, and when she asked me how I was doing I told her fine. That was a complete lie and my mother butted in saying something along the lines of "No, she's not fine, she doesn't want to do anything or go anywhere and is way too sad." So, last Thanksgiving was a bit of an emotional one as my cousin Amanda gave me a pep talk while I cried over some wine. This Thanksgiving was completely the opposite. This year instead, I am the most single I could possibly be with no boy attachments whatsoever. And despite the heartbreak I went through over a year ago, I think I may be the happiest I've ever been. I have a fabulous support system-- my mom, dad, brother, and sweet little puppy Bentley are the best family a girl could ask for. I have awesome friends whether new or old, near or far, that I know I can count on and I love very much. School sucks, but I'm thankful for that as well. It's something that I'm excited and passionate about, but challenges me every day. In other words, this Thanksgiving is one that I will remember for many reasons, but most importantly I want you all to know that I was thankful for YOU on Thanksgiving day and I love you all very much.

So enough of the sappiness. This week was very busy, but what week isn't? I had three exams and my last standardized patient of the semester--wahoo! Other than that the week was pretty uneventful minus the fact that I got a parking ticket on Monday for being 4 minutes over my meter time. I also had to go to the auto parts store to replace my gas cap for the 2nd time in 8 days. Either someone is stealing my gas cap or I've lost all common sense and keep forgetting to screw it back on after I get gas... both are feasible. Tonight one of my classmates is having a highlighter party so that should have some entertaining stories and my parents and I are going to the GSU vs. William Mary game tomorrow. Go Eagles! That's it for now, but thought I'd leave you with a quote from the book I'm reading right now.

"So have we solved the secret to happiness?"
    I believe so he said.
"So are you going to tell me"
    Yes, ready?
    "Ready."
Be satisified. Be grateful for what you have, for the love you receive and for what God has given you."
    - Mitch Albom, Have a Little Faith

I'm grateful for each and everyone of you.
    Love,
    Kristi

    A Novel of a Blog...Sorry, not sorry!

Well hello there blog friends, it's time for that much anticipated update. So let me give you a long drawn out recap of my life over the past 2 1/2 weeks...

So if we rewind to two weekends ago we will arrive at Saddleridge. Saddleridge is this hip country style bar that plays a good bit of country music, has a mechanical bull, but also plays your normal weekend bump and grind tunes as well.  I've only been there two times now but each time I've been it's been a really good time. I went this time with 3 of my friends for a girls night. After getting off the wrong exit and taking several wrong turns we finally made it to the bar. The bar is huge and has two dance floors, so naturally we found ourselves at each spot in time to do the Cupid Shuffle...twice. The night ended by my friend Katie being asked to slow dance with some old guy and then pulling a "chin tuck" move to avoid locking lips with the Garth Brooks wannabe. Saturday night, I did the mature, responsible adult thing and chose to stay in and babysit. I babysit for this mom I met at the country club. She had 3 angel daughters and a huge house on the water by my house-- no big deal. The night went well, only hiccup we had was the 3 year old having a mental breakdown because she didn't want to brush her teeth. The mom paid me a good chunk of cash for only a few hours of work. It was a pretty sweet deal. Hope she calls me back soon!

The following week I had a bunch of tests as usual. I had a practical on Electrical Therapy in one of my classes and another standardized patient. Of course for my Electrical Therapy practical my grader was our super hot TA. I get super nervous for these things as it is, but with Lucas as my grader I'm sure my face was beet red! And to make matters worse, my partner Jaclyn, had to apply electrical stimulation to my upper trap. A.K.A my shirt had to come off in front of my teacher with model like looks! I wound up getting a 95 on the practical, so either I looked really good without my shirt on and the TA wants to ask me out on a date.... Or I just knew my stuff for the practical. I'd like to think it was a mixture of both.

On Thursday night last week, a bunch of my classmates decided to go out to celebrate being done with our standardized patients. We went to this bar called New Belmont. It's a pretty hip place in the ghent area of Norfolk. The Thursday night specials were 2 dollars for 2 baby corona's and 5 dollar PBR pitchers. This was bad news for me. It was karaoke night as well so of course my friend Kristin and I decided to sign up. We sang Shania Twain's "That Don't Impress Me Much" like superstars.
The night also included me consuming too many beers, receiving a business card from a man telling me to call him, and also finding this claw game that normally holds toys, but this time it held lobsters. Weird. As we were leaving the bar on this night I asked Katie if she would take me to taco bell. A group of guys over heard and yelled "Girl, I'll take you home." I responded to him with "Okay, but can we go to taco bell first?" Don't worry, I decided to go to taco bell with my friends instead, but that just goes to show the things I would do for a cheesy gordita crunch!

Friday 3 of my best friends from home came to visit! Friday we were supposed to just kinda have a chill night, go to a mexican restaurant and then come home and watch a movie. My parents were in VA beach for the weekend so they met us at La Herradurra for dinner. One jumbo margarita later, we were all feeling pretty good. My mom went to the hotel with a headache and the rest of us decided going out was a much better idea than a movie. Just like the classy young professionals we are, we proceeded to chug a Joose and pass a bottle of Captain Morgan's around in my parked car before heading into the bar. We went to Mojo Bones first...

After here Natty found 5 dollars in the 7-11 parking lot as we walked to the next bar called the Edge. At the Edge Natty found 20 more dollars in the parking lot. I'd say she made out pretty well. We finally left the edge at last call and stumbled our way back to my house, as I hiccuped the whole way home. We made a pot of mac n cheese and went to bed. Sounds like the dinner and a movie night we planned doesn't it?
We awoke the next morning not having a terrible hang over and I attempted to show my friends around campus. They also let me try some e-stim on them in my living room. Some were better patients than others. They were brave though as they let me manipulate their finger flexors, quadriceps, and ankle flexors without their control at all. My mom also let me e-stim her wrist that was bothering her and she told me it felt better afterwards :) The rest of the night was consumed by preparations for the Fall PT Formal. The night was a blast. Thanks to my mother, an entire box of Franzia sunset blush was consumed before we made it to the bar that the formal was held at. We played quite a few rounds of "slap the bag" (if you don't know what this game is you may be missing out) and then headed to Granby St. We were dressed to impressed and danced up a storm. The night was fun but rather uneventful. I danced with a giant all night and only managed to fall one time (Thanks Steven for picking me up). I also whipped my hair around like it's never been whipped before to "I Whip My Hair" when it came on at the bar. All around a great night.

Sunday was spent recovering and studying for my Neuroscience test I had yesterday. It kicked my butt, but at least I have the midnight showing of Harry Potter on Thursday to look forward to. I'm going to wear my Harry Potter t-shirt and attempt to make a pair of glasses to wear.

I think that's about all for now, I'll try to make my life less exciting so I won't write so much next time haha. Oh, after I bombed my neuro test my friends Kristin and Renee decided to make me a profile on match.com Be looking forward to some updates on that story. Who knows maybe you'll see my face on the next match.com commercials!

    Yours,

    Barfights, weddings, and bed activities

So it's time for a much needed update!

There is lots for me to talk about since my last post! So let's rewind to 2 weekends ago. This was an "epic" weekend as my friends would call it. That Friday night I was lame and ordered chinese take out with some of my classmates and studied manual muscle testing in the PT lab. Saturday night, however, was a different story.

This Saturday was homecoming and while everyone else was outside tailgating, I was stuck inside working in the pro shop. It wasn't too bad, they kept me busy stringing a bunch of rackets. After work, I got ready to go out in downtown Norfolk. One of our classmates friends had a hotel for the night on Granby Street so we had plans to go drink there a little bit before we headed out to the bars. He was staying at The CourtYard Marriott. So we navigated the streets of downtown Norfolk and after a few wrong turns here and there we finally ended up at our destination... Well, our first destination that is. We entered the Marriott and took the elevator to the 12th floor where we thought our friend was. We never found room 1206. But we did find this super cool outdoor patio over looking the city. It was so pretty at night.

I wanted to stay up here and drink all night but the rest of the group decided it probably wasn't a good idea and we should try and find the Marriott we were actually supposed to be at. After about an hour of searching we finally found our destination and it turned out to be only like 4 blocks away from where we parked. Perfect.

Later this night, my friend Renee got in a bar fight with another girl. I had just come out of the bathroom and my song "Like a G6" was on. I fist pumped my way to the center of the dance floor only to find my friends pinning Renee up against the wall to prevent her from tackling this girl who had just popped a beer bottle to her forehead. Apparently, the story was that Renee was dancing too close to this girl and she got in Renee's face. Renee took a swing at the girl and then got a beer bottle in the head before the bouncer kicked the other girl out of the bar. So between the search for the hotel and the bar fight it was a pretty eventful night. Or "epic" as it will forever be known as.

The following week was filled with tests and preparing for Emma's wedding. I also had my first standardized patient. For this "SP" session we went down to the medical school and performed an evaluation on a 2nd year student who was pretending to be a patient. It was performed in an actual doctors room and the whole thing was video taped. I was SO nervous. The whole thing ended up going really well. I really surprised myself with how much I had learned already and how much I could actually do with the patient. I only had one little slip up and that happened when I was taking the initial history... I may or may not have asked my female patient if she had a wife or kids. No big deal.

Emma's wedding this weekend was PERFECT! I had so much fun with everyone and the whole weekend was amazing. The weather was beautiful and Emma was just stunning. Plus, Saturday night was topped off by an amazing thriller dance, an extremely competitive game of flip cup, and I witnessed my mother take a tequila shot like a champ. I was so sad to leave on Sunday after spending the entire weekend with my best friends. I need to move back to the south asap.

In other news from this week, we had a practical on Tuesday morning. Some of the things we were supposed to demonstrate were listening to heart sounds and lung sounds. My partner, Kevin, had to demonstrate listening to lung sounds on me in front of the TA. Demonstrating the lung sounds really isn't hard to do if you are listening to a boy. Unfortunately for Kevin, I am not a boy. In order for him to properly listen to my lung sounds he had to ask me to "please move my breast tissue up and out of the way" in order for him to properly place his stethoscope. There's always clothes coming off and no room for shyness when it comes to PT school. Also this week we discussed sexual positions and bed activities in my Biomechanics/Kinesiology class. My teacher lectured on appropriate ways to discuss sexual positioning with patients who are suffering from bursitis of the hip or who have just had hip replacements. I tried my best to keep a straight face while she spoke about this with no hesitation, but I failed. I guess I'm just not mature enough for that yet. However, if you ever have a hip replacement and need some advice in bed I guess I will have some suggestions for you!

That's all for now. Hope my blogs continue to entertain you... you guys are my number one fans!

    Love,
