3 months too long

Hi friends,

I sincerely apologize for my lack of blog updates this spring. However, it looks like my other friends who got into the blog trend have been slacking as well (coughkala&emmacough!).

So, I know it's been awhile since I've updated you on the latest and greatest in my exciting young, single life so I'll do my best to give you the most information in the shortest amount of words possible. For those of you who don't know, I decided to give up meat for lent this year. So today is the one month mark for me! It's officially been one month since I've given up meat and I haven't cheated once! That's right I haven't even had one chicken nugget or even bought a cheesy gordita crunch in our drunken late night trips to taco bell. I like to call myself a modified vegetarian because I'm still eating eggs and fish. This new vegetarian diet has opened my eyes to many new food choices: tomatoes, cucumbers, salmon, and my favorite so far... sushi! I never thought I'd be one to enjoy raw fish, but I love it now. I also love the broccoli roll from Katana, on 21st street... it's a must have. Easter and my birthday are coming up at the end of the month so we'll see, if I continue this modified vegetarianism once lent is over.

This year was a very exciting spring break for me as I never had a "true" spring break in undergrad because we always had tennis matches. So this year for spring break I ended up driving all over the east coast. I traveled down to Statesboro, GA to see my teammates and Emma & Bryan. Then made my way to Atlanta for Kala's awesome bridal shower! It was so good to be reunited with everyone (and eat lots of cupcakes.) Now it's just over a month until Kala's wedding... I can't believe it. My best friends need to quit getting married, or pretty soon I won't have any single friends left! Who will dance on the bar with me once everyone gets married?
After the weekend in Atlanta, I made my way to Hilton Head, SC to meet up with some of my PT classmates who were there for the week. It was pretty sunny the whole week, but not warm enough to really go to the beach. Luckily, we had a hot tub at our house.... that & large amounts of alcohol was enough to entertain us for the week. We also had a freezing cold pool in the backyard as well. I ended losing a game of beer pong had to complete what we called a "double shot." This consisted of me taking a shot, jumping in the freezing pool, getting back out of the pool  and taking another shot, and then jumping back in the pool one last time. I would not recommend "the double shot" to anyone after going through that experience. Another exciting adventure we went on that week was drunk bowling. This adventure happened soon after I completed the double shot. And believe me, I know drunk bowling was an adventure... but I don't remember many details. The clearest memory I have from this night was getting yelled at by an employee for walking outside with my bowling shoes on. He did not realize how important it was that I saved a few dollars by chugging a beer that I snuck in my purse out in the parking lot. All I remember him saying was "Hey, don't wear those things outside! You're gonna fall flat on your face!" It was good advice knowing my history, but I didn't fall. Well, as far as I can remember.

Also while we were at Hilton Head, I adopted some new pets! I am now a proud mother of two adorable red-eared sliders. I named my baby turtles Timon and Pumba. We proceeded to race my new pets one night at the house. Timon always won.
In other news, my first triathlon is only about a month away now! I will be swimming a 300 hundred, biking 10 miles, and then running 3.2 miles. I've been keeping up with biking and running, but I haven't been to the pool in awhile. Hopefully, I'll be ready to go by May 23rd!

That's all I got for now. I'm heading to Raleigh, NC this weekend to visit my friend Steven and also attend the World Beer Festival on Saturday. It should be a good time. I only have 3.5 weeks left of the semester; I can't believe how quickly this first year has flown by. I start my first 8 week full time clinical rotation May 16th!

Hope everyone is doing well! Come visit me soon!
Oh & Happy Peace Week!
Love,
Kristi

P.S. I just finished the book "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. It was a really good read if anyone is interested :)
