On the Coast of Somewhere Beautiful

Hello my lovely friends!

Only 11 days til I take off for Destin, Florida. I can't even explain to you how excited I am to finally see Emma get her dream wedding and spend time with my favorite people in the world. I miss ya'll so much, and have been getting a little home sick lately... yes, I consider Georgia to be a home for me now!

Last night I realized I have only a very limited amount of time to get myself looking somewhat reasonable for this wedding. I'm hoping Emma's photographer can deblemish my face, airbrush my love handles, and give me instantly sunkissed skin. I realize this is not very likely so I decided to do what I can with the little time I have left. So last night for dinner I had vegetables and brown rice, then set my alarm for 8:15 to get up and go for a run before class at 10.

This morning my alarm went off at 8:15. I pressed snooze until 9. Whoops. I took a shower and got ready for class without the early morning run. However, I made up for it later by hitting the gym for an hour later this afternoon.

In other news, my life has been pretty boring recently. Only a few exciting stories to tell you about so let's rewind to 2 weekends ago when I went home for my dads 50th birthday.

Saturday night, my mom made my favorite dinner ever: flank steak with roasted potatoes! Ha, and I thought I could be a vegetarian... yeah right. Sunday morning, my dad and I ran a 5K to celebrate this important milestone in his life. We ran most of the race together stride in stride. But then we got to the last half mile...it was straight up hill. About half way up the hill my heart rate started climbing to the high 190's and I stopped to walk for 30 seconds. My dad sped on ahead. He finished 30 seconds ahead of me. End of story. My 50 year-old father beat his 22 year old daughter in a 5K race on his 50th birthday! Well, Happy Birthday Daddy.

For my practical this week we were being tested on ultra sound. Easy right? All was good until I had to play patient for my practical partner. I had to play the part of a 35 year old female body builder. Perfect!
The practical went well minus the fact that my partner kept calling me an "it". When the scenarios were flipped he just had to pretend to be a patient with a deep scar. Guess I picked the short straw.

After a long week of studying for a written exam and a practical, I decided to let loose on Friday night. We decided to head to our friend Alex's to hangout and play drinking games. Katie came up with the brilliant idea to ride our bikes over there so no one ended up drinking and driving. This was easily one of the best ideas she ever had. So, Katie, Peter, and I took this adventure together. Our first stop was 7-11 where we filled up Katie's bike basket with a 24 pack of budlight and an extra large bottle of wine. We made it to Alex's safe and sound thanks to the trusty bike lock that kept all our beer in place! This low key night got out of control at some point. The boys ended up licking rocks out of Alex's aquarium. Katie and I ended up taking shots of sake and goldschlaeger, plus a few too many shot guns. I think the bike ride home went well, I don't remember much of it other than singing Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby" at the top of my lungs. I was headed to hangout at Katie's after we got back from Alex's, but I ended up hitting a curb and almost falling off my bike so she made me go inside to bed. All in all, I'd call this a successful Friday night.

Saturday night we decided to go to Hunt Club Farms in Virginia Beach. They put on this Haunted Halloween festival every year. I had heard that it was something fun to do, but I was not expecting the turnout that we saw. We got there at 8 PM and the lines were crazy! We all bought wrist bands for $25 so that we could do all the attractions as many times as we wanted. There were only 3 things to get through and the place closed at 11. We finished attraction 3 at 10:55. We went through the Field of Screams which was a corn field with Zombies and other scary people who popped out at you. Then we went through the village of the dead. When we went through the village of the dead I saw a werewolf and turned around to tell everyone that I had found Jacob Black. This werewolf then proceeded to follow me until I exited the village. He was a little scary and kept whispering "Hey! I found Jacob" in my ear... I don't think I found the real Jacob Black. The last event of the night was the Haunted Hayride. This was the most fun and most scary. On the Haunted Hayride I ended up sitting next to this babe named Kyle. He was 11 years old. He introduced himself and asked me my name. I said "Hi Kyle, I'm Olivia." He replied with "Olivia? I LIKE that name." I think it was love at first sight. Once we started moving I asked Kyle if he was going to keep me safe on this ride. He responded with, "Yeah girl. Whatever you want." After this he began to tell me that he had the number of almost every girl on his sister's volleyball team. I guess I had some stiff competition. The rest of the hayride went well and we had some good scares. We were chased with a chainsaw and by some scary small people. The ride ended and Kyle never asked me for my digits. Maybe next time.

As we exited the farm and made our way to the parking lot, Peter almost got in a fight with some guy. He had asked this guy to put out his cigarrette earlier in the night because there were way too many people standing close together in line for anyone to be smoking. After commenting on the guy looking cool in his "skinny jeans" and "sperry's" the guy put out his cigarrette after some complaining. We passed this same guy at the beginning of the parking lot. He looked at Peter and said "Hey, by the way man. These shoes are actually Vans." We walked away, but the boy kept following us saying "if you want to talk trash turn around and say it to my face." We made it out of there alive and in one piece. No fight ended up having to take place.

That's all I have to update for now. I'm setting my alarm for 6:15 tomorrow so maybe I can get up and run before my 8AM class. Yes, I know it's wishful thinking but maybe one day I'll actually get out of bed when my alarm goes off.

Peace & Love,
Kristi
