There is lots for me to talk about since my last post! So let's rewind to 2 weekends ago. This was an "epic" weekend as my friends would call it. That Friday night I was lame and ordered chinese take out with some of my classmates and studied manual muscle testing in the PT lab. Saturday night, however, was a different story.
This Saturday was homecoming and while everyone else was outside tailgating, I was stuck inside working in the pro shop. It wasn't too bad, they kept me busy stringing a bunch of rackets. After work, I got ready to go out in downtown Norfolk. One of our classmates friends had a hotel for the night on Granby Street so we had plans to go drink there a little bit before we headed out to the bars. He was staying at The CourtYard Marriott. So we navigated the streets of downtown Norfolk and after a few wrong turns here and there we finally ended up at our destination... Well, our first destination that is. We entered the Marriott and took the elevator to the 12th floor where we thought our friend was. We never found room 1206. But we did find this super cool outdoor patio over looking the city. It was so pretty at night.
I wanted to stay up here and drink all night but the rest of the group decided it probably wasn't a good idea and we should try and find the Marriott we were actually supposed to be at. After about an hour of searching we finally found our destination and it turned out to be only like 4 blocks away from where we parked. Perfect.
Later this night, my friend Renee got in a bar fight with another girl. I had just come out of the bathroom and my song "Like a G6" was on. I fist pumped my way to the center of the dance floor only to find my friends pinning Renee up against the wall to prevent her from tackling this girl who had just popped a beer bottle to her forehead. Apparently, the story was that Renee was dancing too close to this girl and she got in Renee's face. Renee took a swing at the girl and then got a beer bottle in the head before the bouncer kicked the other girl out of the bar. So between the search for the hotel and the bar fight it was a pretty eventful night. Or "epic" as it will forever be known as.
The following week was filled with tests and preparing for Emma's wedding. I also had my first standardized patient. For this "SP" session we went down to the medical school and performed an evaluation on a 2nd year student who was pretending to be a patient. It was performed in an actual doctors room and the whole thing was video taped. I was SO nervous. The whole thing ended up going really well. I really surprised myself with how much I had learned already and how much I could actually do with the patient. I only had one little slip up and that happened when I was taking the initial history... I may or may not have asked my female patient if she had a wife or kids. No big deal.
Emma's wedding this weekend was PERFECT! I had so much fun with everyone and the whole weekend was amazing. The weather was beautiful and Emma was just stunning. Plus, Saturday night was topped off by an amazing thriller dance, an extremely competitive game of flip cup, and I witnessed my mother take a tequila shot like a champ. I was so sad to leave on Sunday after spending the entire weekend with my best friends. I need to move back to the south asap.
That's all for now. Hope my blogs continue to entertain you... you guys are my number one fans!
